Ryokan Matsumae

Ryokan Matsumae is within an 8-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Train Station and Kofuku-ji Temple. Featuring the charm of an authentic Japanese architecture, the Ryokan offers Japanese calligraphy lessons and free Wi-Fi.
Fitted with tatami (woven-straw) floors and traditional futon beds, guest rooms are decorated with Japanese watercolours or calligraphy. Each room is equipped with an electric kettle and a flat-screen TV.
Guests can enjoy a quiet soak in the public bath, or get a relaxing massage. A smoking room and coin-operated washing machines are provided. Each Thursday, free Kyogen (traditional short-form comedy) lessons are offered.
A free English-language tour of Todai-ji Temple and Kasuga Grand Shrine leaves from the ryokan daily at 10:00. JR Nara Train Station is a 15-minute walk away.
Continental and Japanese breakfasts are served daily in the dining room, and a Japanese dinner is offered.
